KAIROS POWER HEADQUARTERS

Our work in Alameda Point
Kairos Power’s headquarters at the former Alameda Naval Air Station is located inside a World-War-II-era hangar that we've transformed into a hub for engineering design, rapid prototyping, and iterative testing. As part of our commitment to protecting the environment, Kairos Power selectively builds on brownfield sites. We’ve invested $25 million to date at Alameda Point, repurposing an existing facility to accelerating technology development and advance our clean energy mission.

Learning through iterative development
At Kairos Power's Alameda lab facilities, our team conducts rapid prototyping, separate effects testing, and evaluations in a Flibe environment, to inform KP-FHR hardware systems and license submissions.
We move quickly through iterative design-build-test cycles to drive learning and innovation. By continuously validating and improving our technology, we seek to mitigate development risk and accelerate deployment.

FEATURED UPDATES
In the know
Perspectives, updates, and progress from Kairos Power.
Kairos Power moved to Alameda in 2018. Our headquarters are located within a repurposed WWII-era aircraft hangar at the former Alameda Naval Air Station, now Alameda Point. Aligned with our mission to improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment, we selectively build on brownfield sites.
Our corporate headquarters in Alameda Point include 50,000 square feet of office and lab space. These include our RAPID Lab and Salt Lab (17,000 SF), manufacturing space (~9,000 SF), and office space (~18,700 SF). Kairos Power does not use any nuclear material on site at its California facilities.
Testing in our RAPID Lab (R-Lab) simulates reactor conditions using surrogate fluids to study specific phenomena. Rapid prototyping supports reactor component and subsystem development.
Our Salt Lab (S-Lab) is the first modern-day lab facility devoted to working with Flibe.
Alameda’s proximity to renowned universities, trade schools, and an exceptional Bay Area talent pool have been key in developing our team’s internal capabilities. These factors significantly contributed to Kairos Power’s decision to locate its headquarters in Alameda.
